Baedeker is a special convergence of travel and storytelling. Every semester we get incredible tales and narratives from our dedicated team, whose creativity never fails to astound me. As Editor-in-Chief, I have been privileged enough to bear witness to the lengths our creators will go to weave their mythos into existence. Baedeker offers everything from long-form narration, to short-form poetry and prose.

As a reader, I can only hope you draw on the stories in our magazines and go out into the world to form your own adventures. Baedeker’s ethos is that anyone can travel, and anyone can find the stories we are searching for. We encourage all to submit to our submission forms, as we are always looking for new photography and written works. Our team is constantly hard at work with new concepts, projects, and creative output into new ventures. If you feel inclined to join, please reach out on any of our platforms.

Now go! Explore the neighborhood around you, take the Metro-North and keep going up, up, up! Book the cheap flight, find that thrifted camera. Our world around us is filled with adventures, stories, narratives waiting to be explored to their fullest. Alea iacta est, the die has been cast, there is no turning back. Take the chance, grow from it, travel.

Eva Holwick, Baedeker Editor-in-Chief 2024

Dear Fellow Travelers,

A Global Initiative

Baedeker has expanded from its roots in New York to a global publication, with editions now in Florence, London, Sydney, and Madrid. Relaunched after the COVID-19 shutdown, the magazine gives NYU students studying abroad a platform to capture their experiences through stories, photography, and culture. Each international branch operates with creative freedom, supported by Baedeker’s Global Strategy team. As it continues to grow, Baedeker aims to establish student-run editions at every NYU study-away site, connecting travelers through shared stories from around the world.

“Traveling can be so many different things, but don't forget to take in the world around you.”

Miranda Womack

(Head of Global Strategy)

“People come because of what we do, but people stay for the community.”
